The Supreme Court on Friday declined a plea for urgent hearing on a petition seeking a direction for probe into death of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul.
A three-judge bench presided over by Chief Justice J S Khehar told petitioner-advocate M L Sharma that his petition would come up for consideration in due course.
The petitioner also sought direction to the CBI to register an FIR against those lawyers who used a ‘fabricated’ suicide note to ‘defame’ the judicial institution.
“This (suicide note) is a forged document and has been concocted to defame the judicial institution under the garb of corruption allegation against the sitting and former CJI and other judges,” the petition stated.
The petitioner also sought contempt action against senior advocate Dushyant Dave, advocate Prashant Bhushan and Pul's wife, who have raised the issue of note and sought action into allegations made into it.
He claimed a criminal conspiracy was hatched “to undermine the judiciary for securing political gain”. Pul's wife Dangwimsai had written to the CJI for probe into allegations made in the note but had preferred to withdraw her letter on February 24 after it was converted into a petition for consideration on judicial side.
