The students from classes V to VIII of Jodurai Memorial High School complained of vomiting and stomach ache following the administering of the tablets.
"Most of them were taken to Suri hospital, where doctors said the illness might be a result of taking the tablets in an empty stomach," district magistrate Soumitro Mondal said.
Angry over the incident, parents attacked the school's staff room and broke chairs and tables besides assaulting two teachers, officials said.
