Amid reports of IAF strikes on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) poured in, all the vital security installations across Jammu and Kashmir were put on high alert.

“This is a normal procedure and all vital installations across India including, J&K have been put on alert mode," a top security official told DH.

He said that there is apprehension that militants at the behest of Pakistan might carry out some major attack in the hinterland in retaliation to Indian Air Force (IAF) strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).

“We have to remain alert as militants, especially in south Kashmir, have the capacity to carry out some major attack,” the official added.

India carried out a pre-dawn strike on a militant camp across the LoC, reports said soon after Pakistan army claimed that Indian fighter jets were forced to leave after they crossed the LoC in Muzaffarabad sector.

The strike was carried out at around 3:30 this morning by 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets. The aircraft dropped 1,000 kg laser-guided bombs on a major militant camp across the Line of Control, completely destroying it, news agency ANI reported, quoting Air Force sources.
