A day after he turned 82, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar received a threat call yet again following which his office made a formal complaint to the Mumbai police.

The caller rang up from an unknown location to the Pawars’ residence Silver Oak at Breach Candy and issued threats and used abusive language against the veteran politician.

In a complaint to Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, it was pointed out that such calls have come 20-25 times and asked the police to put an end to this nuisance.

The NCP leader’s office and security detail had lodged a complaint with Gamdevi police station and the office of Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) earlier about the caller.

Police registered a case under section 294, 506(2) of IPC and started further investigation.

“The caller appears to be ‘mentally unstable’ who keeps calling up the Pawar residence at regular intervals and makes such threats,” NCP national spokesperson Clyde Crasto said.

The police have taken the complaint seriously as Pawar had in the past received such threats.

A few months back, his residence was attacked by activists of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation.
