Former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea, who is being tried in a murder case, has been admitted in a hospital following chest pain.

Mukerjea has been shifted from the Arthur Road prison in Saat-raasta area to the government-run Sir J J Hospital.

He is currently in the ICU of the hospital and is said to be stable.

"Peter Mukerjea was admitted on Saturday evening for chest pain and is under investigation. The patient's condition is stable and on medical line of treatment," Dr Sanjay Surase, medical superintendent Sir J J Hospital, said.

It may be recalled that last week Mukerjea's lawyer Shrikant Shivade made an appeal in the court for Mukerjea's bail saying that his client will not survive in jail till the end of the trial.

Mukerjea and his estranged wife Indrani Mukerjea are under arrest and are being tried by the CBI for the murder of latter's daughter Sheena Bora.

Sheena was murdered in April, 2012.

Sheena is Indrani and her first husband Sanjeev Khanna's daughter. Khanna, too, is in jail.
