The Centre on Wednesday approved setting up of Indian Institutes of Skills (IISs) at different locations across the country under Public Private Partnership (PPP).

The Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the decision to set up IISs in different parts of the country based on demand and available infrastructure, said a statement.

IISs will augment the global competitiveness of key sectors of Indian economy by providing high-quality skill training, applied research education and a direct and meaningful connection with industry, the statement said.
