According to the study, the two southern cities are the preferred locations, as they offer plenty of opportunities in terms of employment and re-employment for retired soldiers and provide the best medical, civic and education facilities. The SWO is launching low cost housing projects for the defence, para-military and the Central govt security personnel. The mission of the organisation is to provide quality welfare social service, including low cost housing facilities to the soldiers serving the nation, a SWO press release said here on Friday. All beneficiaries can register their names for their choice stations. According to the LDS, Bangalore became the top preference as it generated heavy demand. Other prominent locations include Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Shimla, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Hissar and Rohtak.
A team of retired officers and men under the chairmanship of Lt Col (Rtd) Rakesh Rana conducted the survey. The organisation has already launched its housing project in Jaipur named “Defence Enclave.” Announcing the launch of booking for plots for the Jaipur project “Defence Enclave”, Lt Col(Retd) Rakesh Rana, KC Chairman SWO, said: “We have chosen big cities, as the LDS reveals that they offer better facilities and provide much more opportunities for employment and re-employment for soldiers.
Since Bangalore and Hyderabad are the fastest growing metros, soldiers prefer them, Rana said, adding that the plots being offered are very economical and reasonable, even a soldier who has recently joined the services can afford to buy a plot in our scheme. The organisation aims to provide quality welfare social service to the defence and the paramilitary forces personnel, both serving and retired, and their spouses or dependents on a ‘no profit-no loss’ basis through planning on small real estate projects located in close proximity of existing medical facilities, educational centres and re-employment opportunities.
Details of the organisation, policies, rules and the projects are given on the website http:// www.swo.co.in. Application forms for apartments or residential plots can be downloaded from the website.
