The study highlighted the worldwide sleep crisis and threw light on the importance of quality sleep.

While it might sound a little absurd, couples are considering this as a useful method to enhance their relationship.

From all over the world, 32 per cent of couples have said that their sleep is often disturbed either due to their partner's snoring or loud breathing or even due to the symptoms associated with sleep apnea.

India is followed by UK and US with a high number of people giving in to sleep divorce. In both these countries, as per the survey, 50 per cent of the couples always sleep together, whereas the rest prefers sleeping apart.

In today's fast-paced world, amid the constant struggle to build the much-needed work-life balance, sleep deprivation has become a raging issue. Stress, anxiety and work pressure among other issues can affect the quality of sleep miserably, increasing the possibility of many health risks.

As per the survey, 65 per cent of the couples who have opted for sleep divorce have reported that they were able to rest better and 31 per cent of the couples have said that the method has helped them improve their relationship. However, 33 per cent of them have also felt that their relationship has worsened by sleeping separately.

Further, 28 per cent of the couple have asserted that their sexual life has improved after they started practicing sleep divorce, but 22 per cent say that their experience was the complete opposite as several felt it deprived them of feelings such as love, comfort, relaxation, happiness and calmness, which can be attained by sleeping together.
