Indian athlete Vispy Kharadi was officially confirmed to have broken the record for the longest duration holding Hercules pillars (male), holding the pillars for 2 mins 10.75 seconds. The feat was recorded by Guinness and entered into their Book of World Records.
The video of the feat, which Guinness posted on their official X account, has gained over 10 million views and was shared by Elon Musk too.
In the video, Kharadi is seen holding two short pillars modelled after Greek architecture, known as Hercules pillars. The pillars are connected to a rope each, which Kharadi is holding onto and ensuring that they do not fall. His task is to hold on to the ropes as long as possible.
Conferred the title of 'Steel Man of India', added to his tally of 15 Guinness World Records. According to a report by Zee News, Kharadi is a multiple black belt holder and Krav Maga specialist. He also holds an MBA degree from IIM-B and is a certified sports nutritionist from the International Sports Science Academy in the US
He works as a stunt choreographer, actor, and model, and is also a strength coach, and fitness &nutrition expert to many well-known celebrities.
Upon learning that Musk shared his video, Kharadi took to X and wrote, It was indeed a good surprise when I got to know that @elonmusk shared my Guinness World Record Video on X. Feeling so happy and on cloud 9. Moreover it gives me immense pride that an Indian is being praised worldwide in the field of strength."
The martial artist has trained Border Security Forces (BSF) and other Security forces in armed & unarmed combat - KRAV MAGA and other aspects of martial arts. He also conducts self-defence training for women across the country.
"God has been kind to me, and I believe the universe has many more goals for me to accomplish. I will keep on working positively and put my best foot forward to achieve some more milestones,” Vispy, Managing Director of Athletica Fitness, the largest sports and fitness centre in Surat, had told Zee News back in 2023.
