The Supreme Court website, supremecourtofindia.nic.in, was reportedly hacked on Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred soon after the apex court announced its dismissal of a plea seeking an independent probe into the death of Judge Loya.
Screenshots of the website, taken by users, show that the hackers posted a marijuana leaf on the website. The screenshot, which was tweeted around 12.10 pm, reads 'Hackeado por Hitech Brazil Hackteam'. It is believed that Brazillian hackers are involved in it based on the messages that appeared on the page.
Although the messages left by the hackers have been removed, at the time of the writing of this article, the website is unreachable.
Earlier this month, the Defence Ministry's official website was also reportedly hacked, along with other government websites that became inaccessible, leading many to think that it was a planned cyber attack. The government, however, clarified that it was a glitch rather than a hacking as was being reported.
"Due to a technical issue in storage, about 10 government websites hosted in the NIC data centre became inaccessible to the public," the officials said.
