D Magesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic (North), Greater Chennai Police, is a DIG-rank officer.

Sources said the suspension order was issued after two women police constables submitted their complaints to Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal.

The complaints were referred to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on sexual harassment, which recommended action against the officer based on the initial probe. “The officer has been placed under suspension,” a source said.

Earlier this year, the government allowed IG-rank office S Murugan to retire at the time of his superannuation following an arrest warrant against him in a sexual harassment case filed by a woman SP.
