Chennai: With leaders of alliance parties like Congress, VCK and Left by his side, DMK President M K Stalin on Tuesday said as long as Tamil Nadu stands united, no “divisive saffron agenda from Delhi” will succeed in the state, in a veiled reference to the AIADMK-BJP alliance that is preparing to challenge the ruling combine in the 2026 Assembly polls.
Stalin, who was speaking after unveiling the statue of Congress veteran L Elayaperumal and launching a grievance redressal programme in Chidambaram, listed the “achievements” of his four-year-old government and asked government servants to ensure that the welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries.
Under Ungaludan Stalin (Stalin with You) scheme, urban areas will receive 43 services across 13 departments, while rural areas will receive 46 services across 15 departments. The specific services and departments involved are determined based on the types of requests frequently received in Phases 1 and 2.
Petitions collected through these camps will be forwarded to the respective departments, and the responses from those departments will be promptly communicated to the applicants.
If a petition remains unresolved beyond 30 days, a reminder will be sent to the concerned departments. The launch also comes a day after the government appointed four seasoned bureaucrats as spokespersons to improve communication with people and bust fake narratives against the dispensation, ahead of the elections.
Before Stalin rose to speak, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan said his party will continue to remain in the DMK alliance and he will ensure that his cadres work for the victory of the Secular Progressive Alliance.
“On this stage, we see unity among leaders of the Dravidian movement following Periyar’s path, leaders of the Communist movement with Marxist ideology, leaders of the national movement in Gandhi’s path, and leaders of the Ambedkarite movement. This is Tamil Nadu—united as one,” he said.
“As Thirumavalavan said, I assert that as long as Tamil Nadu stands united, no divisive saffron agenda from Delhi will succeed here,” Stalin added.
His comments come amid AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami’s state-wide election campaign.
