Stalin was welcomed outside the Apollo Hospitals here by a large number of DMK leaders, functionaries and cadres who shouted “Long Live, Stalin” before he drove to his residence in Alwarpet.

The Chief Minister was admitted to the hospital on July 21 after he experienced symptoms of dizziness during his routine morning walk. Three days later, he underwent a therapeutic procedure to correct variations in his heart rate and an angiogram performed on him turned out to be normal. On Saturday, he met government officials and senior DMK leaders for a series of meetings to send out a strong message that he was healthy.

“The Honourable Chief Minister is being discharged this evening and has been advised to resume his normal routine after three days,” Dr Anil B G, Director, Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals, said in a press release.

In a social media post, Stalin said he has returned home after recovering and thanked political leaders and others for wishing him well during his hospital stay.

“To the doctors, nurses, and everyone who provided excellent treatment and supported my swift recovery in the hospital -- once again, my love and gratitude. I will forever continue my duty to serve you with dedication,” he said.

During his week-long stay at the hospital, Stalin underwent a slew of tests during his four-day stay at the Apollo Hospitals since doctors wanted to rule out a couple of complications considering his age.
