Hyderabad: In an interesting turn of events the BJP central leadership has accepted the resignation of Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh Lodh, one of the eight MLAs of the party who won in the last Assembly polls. Raja Singh represents a constituency in the AIMIM-dominated old city area.
Raja Singh submitted his resignation in protest against the recent selection of N Ramachander Rao as BJP state unit president. In an unexpected development, party general secretary Arun Singh issued a statement on Friday formally accepting Raja Singh's resignation.
Widely regarded as the strong and hardcore Hindutva face of the BJP in Hyderabad's old city, Raja Singh had aspired to become the party's state unit chief and wanted to file his nomination for the position. In his resignation letter, Raja Singh expressed that the decision to select Rao came as a shock and disappointment, not just to him, but to lakhs of party workers, leaders, and voters who have stood by the party through every challenge.
"The aforesaid letter has been brought to the notice of National President Jagat Prakash Nadda. The contents mentioned by you are irrelevant and do not match the functioning, ideology and principles of the party. As per the direction of National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, I do convey that your resignation has been accepted with immediate effect," Arun Singh stated in his communique to Raja Singh.
Raja Singh has previously been quite vocally critical of the leadership style of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who served as state party unit chief until recently. Responding to the acceptance of his resignation while on the Amarnath Yatra, Raja Singh clarified that he had not taken this decision for any position, power, or personal gain, adding that he was born to serve Hindutva and would continue working for it until his last breath.
"Exactly 11 years ago today, I took membership in the Bharatiya Janata Party with the aim of serving the people, serving the nation, and protecting Hindutva," Raja Singh said in a social media post.
"The BJP, placing its trust in me, gave me the ticket for the MLA seat from Goshamahal in the Telangana Assembly elections three consecutive times. For this trust, I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the BJP office bearers. Today, my resignation has been accepted by the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, J.P. Nadda. Perhaps I could not convey to Delhi the pain of millions of BJP workers who are working day and night with the dream of forming a BJP government in Telangana. I want to make it clear that I have not taken this decision for any position, power, or personal gain. I was born to serve Hindutva, and I will continue to work for Hindutva until my last breath. I will always work with complete dedication and honesty for the protection of Hindutva, nationalism, and Sanatan Dharma. For the service of society and the rights of the Hindu community, I will continue to raise my voice until my last breath," he added.
