Hyderabad: The Congress party's disastrous show in the Delhi elections is finding resonance in Telangana, where the party is in power as BRS, found an opportunity to mock Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and state chief minister A Revanth Reddy.
While BRS working president K T Rama Rao sarcastically congratulated Rahul Gandhi for winning the BJP election, former minister T Harish Rao held Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy responsible for the Congress's defeat in Delhi. Congress will face the same fate in Telangana, the BRS leaders opined.
KTR referred to Revanth Reddy as an 'Iron Leg' who journeyed to Delhi and successfully delivered a significant defeat for the Congress party.
“Revanth Reddy initiated the downfall of the Congress party from Maharashtra and concluded it in Delhi. He will continue this trend in the coming days. Rahul Gandhi is helping the BJP win across the country. In this country, Rahul Gandhi is the biggest worker for the BJP, not Narendra Modi. KCR had already warned that voting for Congress would mean saying goodbye to Rythu Bandhu. As he cautioned, Rythu Bandhu has indeed come to an end. If Revanth Reddy hears the curses of Telangana people, he won't be able to bear it. Within a year, the people of Telangana have realised the deceitful nature of the Congress Party,” said KTR.
Harish Rao said the role of Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi has been remarkable in Congress's downfall.
“The Delhi elections have left the Congress party utterly defeated. The roles of Rahul and Revanth Reddy have been remarkable in the recent devastating defeats—yesterday in Haryana, the day before in Maharashtra, and today in Delhi. Do you think campaigning in other states without keeping your promises will get you votes? The true nature of your guarantees has been exposed nationwide. Your caste calculations, which you desperately tried to use to your advantage in the Delhi elections, have backfired on you,” said Harish Rao.
He suggested to Revanth Reddy that at least now he admit his mistakes, apologise to the people, conduct a caste census again, and ensure justice for all castes.
“Revanth Reddy, implement the six guarantees and 420 promises you made, and then campaign in other states for elections. Otherwise, wherever you set foot, these results will repeat themselves. The upcoming local body election results will also teach you an appropriate lesson, Harish Rao added.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and NDA's key ally N Chandrababu Naidu extended his heartfelt congratulations to BJP and Narendra Modi on securing a "historic" mandate to serve the people of Delhi and said this victory reflects the trust of people in the leadership of Modi.
“The results of the Delhi Assembly elections stand as a resounding endorsement of the progressive policies of the NDA government. This victory in Delhi, which follows Haryana and Maharashtra, reflects the continued trust and confidence of the people in the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his devotion to building a Viksit Bharat. I am confident that this mandate will usher in a new era of growth, development, and prosperity for our national capital,” said Naidu.
