Hyderabad: A 25-year-old German woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a cab driver in Hyderabad late Monday night. The victim, who had been visiting a friend for the past week, was returning to the airport when the incident occurred.
According to Pahadishareef police, the driver diverted to an isolated area near Mamidipalli, where he allegedly assaulted the woman in the back seat before fleeing the scene.
The victim contacted police with assistance from her friends. Police have formed special teams to apprehend the suspect. Though the woman's condition is reported as stable, she has been sent for medical examination.
Earlier that day, the woman had toured the city in the same cab with several friends. After dropping off the other passengers, the driver was supposed to take the survivor to the airport.
A case has been registered under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Pahadishareef police station.
Officials said the woman has visited Hyderabad on previous occasions as well.
