On Tuesday, six unidentified armed offenders entered Khajana Jewellers in Chandanagar wearing masks. They broke into the store just few minutes after it had opened for business in the morning. They opened fire at the Deputy Manager, injured his left knee, and looted approximately 10 kg of silver articles and gold-coated silver items.

The injured manager was rushed to a nearby hospital and is receiving treatment.

Though the robbers attempted to steal additional ornaments, they were forced to flee when store staff raised an alarm and resisted the attack. Before escaping, the gang destroyed several CCTV cameras in an apparent attempt to eliminate evidence of their crime.

Police formed ten special teams to track down the gang members.

Investigations revealed that the accused, who hailed from Bihar, had meticulously planned to target gold and diamond jewellery shops in Hyderabad using firearms.

With the help of their associate Deepak Kumar Sah, a welding worker in Hyderabad, the gang rented accommodation at Asbestos Colony in Jeedimetla, procured two second-hand two-wheelers, and conducted reconnaissance of showrooms in Chandanagar before executing the robbery at Khajana Jewellers.

Aashish Kumar Singh was subsequently apprehended in Maharashtra. Based on his information, police also arrested Deepak Kumar Sah, who had arranged accommodation, vehicles, and helped identify targets. Both men belong to Saran District in Bihar.

A case was registered at Chandanagar police station under sections 11(2), 115(2), 127(2), 324(3), 310(2), 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sections 25(1-B) and 27(1) of the Arms Act.

Police recovered silver articles weighing approximately 900 grams. Further investigation has identified seven people involved in the crime.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty visited the crime scene and interacted with staff members about the daylight robbery attempt.

The management of jewellery shops has been advised to implement adequate security mechanisms during operational hours, including intrusion alarm panels connected to the nearest police stations to help prevent such incidents.
