Hours after a local court in Hyderabad remanded actor Allu Arjun to 14-day custody after being arrested in Hyderabad over the death of a woman during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4, the Telangana High Court has granted him interim bail in the case.
The HC granting him bail observed that he has the right to life and liberty and it can't be taken away by virtue of being an actor.
Shortly after Arjun was remanded to judicial custody by the local court on Friday, the high court granted him a four-week interim bail and posted the case to January 21, 2025, for further hearing. However, he is likely to remain in jail tonight as the bail formalities are yet to be completed.
It has emerged that the Sandhya Theater where the tragedy took place had already sought police bandobast stating that the protagonists of the popular movie would be present.
Meanwhile, actor Varun Dhawan has come out in support and said that it is not the actor's sole fault.
The high-profile arrest also triggered a political slugfest with the BJP and BRS lashing out at the ruling Congress in Telangana, questioning the treatment meted out to the star and TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud hitting back, saying the law is equal for everyone and it will take its course.
