Telangana IT and industries minister, D Sridhar Babu made the announcement of developing the eco-town recently at a conference organised by CII.

He noted that the mutual cooperation agreement signed between Telangana and Kitakyushu will serve as a strategic roadmap for this initiative. He said that the government of Telangana is committed to transforming the state into a global leader across all sectors by 2047 through strong international collaborations under the initiative "Telangana Rising 2047."

He further stated that the government’s sustained efforts over the past 18 months have resulted in securing investments to the tune of Rs 3 lakh crore. Several global corporations, including Microsoft and Amazon, are actively operating in Hyderabad, demonstrating investor confidence in the state. The Minister highlighted that Telangana is actively promoting increased Japanese investment in the state.

Already, 50 youth from Telangana have secured employment opportunities in Japan. In order to enable more such opportunities, the government, through institutions such as Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM), is offering Japanese language training.

Looking ahead, the government of Telangana will collaborate with Kitakyushu on several forward-looking initiatives including Net Zero targets, riverfront development, circular economy practices, clean technologies, and digital innovation.

He also mentioned that the state is envisioning the upcoming Future City as a benchmark in environmental sustainability, with a focus on the development of eco-friendly industrial zones, zero-waste design principles, and advanced water and waste management systems. Minister Sridhar Babu added that the feasibility of introducing direct flight services between Hyderabad and Kitakyushu will be explored to further strengthen bilateral ties.
