Hyderabad: Rachakonda police arrested a person from Uttar Pradesh who was attempting to sell illegal firearms in Hyderabad. Police recovered two country-made pistols, one tapancha, and a few rounds of bullets from the accused. He was procuring firearms from Bihar and selling them in Telangana.
On credible information, the sleuths of the Special Operations Team, Bhongiri Zone of Rachakonda Commissionerate, apprehended Harekrishna Yadav, belonging to Ballia of Uttar Pradesh.
Rachakonda police commissioner D Sudheer Kumar said that Harekrishna Yadav, a resident of Ballia, completed his intermediate education in his village. In the year 2019, he, along with his brother Murali, came to Hyderabad and worked in a company at Bibinagar. After three years, in 2022, he left his job and returned to his native village, where he began to earn a living through farming.
His village is on the border of Bihar, and he developed contacts with illegal firearm manufacturers. Since his earnings were insufficient to meet his needs, he devised a plan to procure country-made weapons at a lower price, which he then planned to sell to needy individuals in Hyderabad city at a higher price.
According to his plan, Yadav purchased three different types of weapons from a resident of Shapur village in the Bhojpur district of Bihar State and came to Hyderabad.
On Wednesday, the SOT Bhongir Team and Jawaharnagar Police arrested Yadav at the Ambedkar Nagar bus stop near the flower garden area and seized two country-made pistols, one tapancha, and 10 live rounds from his possession.
