Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Manchu Mohan Babu was booked by Pahadi Shareef police in Hyderabad for assaulting a journalist of a vernacular TV news channel on Tuesday night.
Mohan Babu, in a fit of rage, grabbed the reporter's microphone and assaulted him using abusive language.
Reporters went to Mohan Babu's residence in Jalpally to cover the ongoing feud in his family.
The assault happened when the reporter Ranjith Kumar had posed a question to Mohan Babu about the ongoing family feud.
Ranjith had sustained fractures in the ear. Based on the complaint from the reporter, the Pahadi Shareef police have booked a case under Section 118 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing hurt.
The complaint detailing the incident stated that "Mohan Babu intentionally grabbed the microphone and cell phone from the complainant's hand, used abusive language, and physically attacked him with the microphone." As a result of the forceful assault, the complainant sustained a severe head injury that caused significant bleeding.”
Differences over properties in the family of Mohan Babu have surfaced two days ago. Mohan Babu, who is fondly called 'Dialogue King' by his admirers, lodged a complaint with the Rachakonda police commissioner in Hyderabad of threat to his life from his younger son, Manoj.
