Opposition parties in Telangana on Sunday accused  Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav of lying about his resignation as a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA before taking oath as a minister in Telangana and demanded a case of cheating against him.

Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir said Talasani had never submitted his resignation as TDP MLA from Sanathnagar and is continuing as a minister in the cabinet of K Chendrasekhar Rao that assumed power last year.

Talasani, along with some other legislators, had joined the TRS late last year after revolting over the TDP top brass’s decision to project Naidu’s son as the party’s future leader.

Ali said an hour before taking oath as a TRS minister on December 16, 2014, Talasani had addressed the media announcing his resignation as the TDP MLA.

Talasani had also displayed his resignation letter which was promptly covered by the media. “It was all drama. Talasani did not send any resignation letter,” he said.
