Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai on Tuesday appeared before the one-man Commission looking into the hospitalisation and subsequent death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa and recorded his statement.

Thambidurai, one of the senior-most leaders of the AIADMK, is the second senior leader from the AIADMK to testify before the Commission that was constituted to dispel doubts on Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation after Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar.
Thambidurai and other senior leaders of the party were at the Apollo Hospital during Jayalalithaa’s 75-day hospitalisation. In fact, the Lok Sabha deputy speaker was coordinating the visits by national leaders, who visited Jayalalithaa at the hospital.
The AIADMK leader is understood to have shared details he knew about Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation. The Commission was constituted in August 2017 as a pre-condition for the faction led by O Panneerselvam to merge with AIADMK to get into the bottom of Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation.
Panneerselvam has alleged more than ones that he and his colleagues were kept in the dark about the treatment accorded to Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospitals by Sasikala family, who took control of the floor where the former chief minister was admitted.
