Jet setting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi may have fulfilled the dreams of his party leaders by ensuring large crowds at his rallies, however, he has definitely managed to fulfill the dreams of some constables from Gujarat police.
His security has been enhanced ever since he has been named BJP's prime ministerial candidate.
Almost 35-40 personnel now travel with Modi. Earlier, only senior officials would travel with him and others would travel in train. These police personnel are supposed to coordinate with the local police and arrange for the venue of the security and near the stage.
The travel by air for these police personnel have been made to ensure they reach the venue well before time. So recently when a personnel of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was asked to travel with the chief minister, he was elated as he was to make his first air travel.
“Had it not been the security concerns of the chief minister, we would have never got the chance to travel by air,” said the personnel. He admitted that it was his first such experience and was not sure if could travel by air at his own expense.
Similar was the experience of another constable who was enrolled in the chief minister security after the Patna rally last year. “With our salary it is indeed difficult to travel by air, but the enhanced security of the chief minister has ensured luxury for even people like us,’’ said the elated constable.
