A tribal woman was allegedly stripped and molested amid threats of killing her husband in Banswara district in Rajasthan.

The police registered the couple’s complaint eight days after the incident on March 13, that too on court orders.

The couple had gone to the wife’s maternal home in Nathpura village, under Kushalgarh police limits, to attend a function. Banswara Superintendent of Police Amandeep Singh said on Wednesday that the husband, Prem Singh, alleged in his complaint that at the function, Kunji, Hariya and Ekan, his wife Kali’s relatives, threatened to kill him to settle an old dispute.

They tied him to a chair and beat him up. When his wife came to his rescue, she was asked to strip if she wanted to save her husband.

The police registered a complaint only after the victim approached the local court which ordered the police to register an FIR.
