The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has set up a three-member committee to probe the leakage of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) question papers in Uttar Pradesh.
The committee, headed by IIT-Kanpur professor Phalguni Gupta, has been asked to submit their report within four weeks, sources in the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development told Deccan Herald.
The decision to set up a committee was taken by the CBSE here at a meeting presided over by its chairman Vineet Joshi.
Rescheduled
In the meeting, the board also decided to conduct another test on May 11 for those candidates who could not appear for AIEEE after its rescheduling on Sunday as they had to appear for the Armed Force Medical College (AFMC) test.
After postponing the AIEEE for over two hours on Sunday following question paper leak, the Board had announced that it will conduct another AIEEE on May 8 for those candidates who missed the test.
“The decision to change the date of entrance was taken as a Banaras Hindu University (BHU) exam and Karnataka combined entrance are scheduled to be held on May 8,” sources said.
Fresh papers
Over 32,000 engineering aspirants of the 11.5 lakh could not appear for All India Engineering Entrance Exam on Sunday. The remaining candidates, however, took the AIEEE only after fresh question papers were supplied. The test, which was also held online for the first time, was conducted successfully with 4,500 candidates appearing for it.
Students had a harrowing time after CBSE postponed the test for over two hours following leak AIEEE question papers which were allegedly sold for Rs 6 lakh.
“The Board has taken a very serious view of the incident. The committee, constituted to probe the matter, has been asked to get to the bottom of the case so that culprits are brought to books,” sources in the Central Board of Secondary Education said.
CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi had on Sunday promised a thorough enquiry into the matter.
