Two Pakistani militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit were killed after a brief shootout against security forces in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday, police said. A woman, a civilian, was also killed in crossfire in Pulwama district in south Kashmir.

A police spokesperson said the militants travelling in a SUV were asked to stop by a joint team of police and paramilitary CRPF at Kralhar near railway station in Baramulla. "The terrorists fired upon the police party and in the exchange of fire both of them were killed," he said and added one AK series rifle and two Chinese pistols were recovered from the slain militants.

SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain said the two were operating under code names of Faizan and Wahab.

The latest incident comes two days after a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and two policemen were injured in a grenade attack by militants in the same district. While police arrested one of the attackers, the other managed to escape.

Civilian killed

Meanwhile, a woman was killed in crossfire following a militant attack on an army camp in Shadimarg area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Friday evening.

A police official said that the militants fired a UBGL grenade at the army camp of 44 Rashtriya Rifles in Shadimarg village of Pulwama at around 7:10 pm. The blast was followed by intense firing. The soldiers retaliated and in the exchange of fire a woman, dentified as Firdousa, got injured and later succumbed in hospital.
