65-year-old Baidi Bindhani, a widow, was attacked with sharp weapon allegedly by her nephew Bapuna Bindhani (22) at Chakradharpur village in Mayurbhanj district of Orissa, police said. She died on the spot.
Bapuna, now absconding, suspected that she had caused harm to his family by performing black magic.
In a similar incident in Bihar, 60-year-old Kailash Kuwar was beaten to death with sticks by a section of locals of Ramrajpur village in Aurangabad district, police said. Kuwar was killed suspecting her to be practicing witchcraft, police said.
