Despite the serious news of activists being arrested in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence, the term 'Urban Naxal' became the butt of jokes on Twitter on Wednesday.
Twitter users came up with alternate terms like 'Urban Idiot', 'Bourbon Naxal' and 'Suburban Naxal' in response to the term 'Urban Naxal', to troll right-wing activists who for long have used social media to target Modi government critics.
Some even said that if you stay in the suburban area of a city, you can't be called an 'Urban Naxal'. Hence you should be termed a 'Suburban Naxal'.
When you drink American whiskey, a 'Bourbon Naxal' is born, said one user.
While Sikhs are 'Turban Naxals', environmental activists are 'Carbon Naxals'. While 'Carbon Naxals' could also apply to anyone who copy-pastes the same content said one Twitter user.
