Noida: Four maintenance staff members of a housing society in Greater Noida were arrested on Friday after a video purportedly showing them assaulting residents was circulated on social media, police said.
The incident took place at Ecotech Village 1 Society in Bisrakh area, they said.
In the video, members of the members of the maintenance team were seen thrashing and abusing residents with sticks. A woman was also heard asking, "Maar kyun rahe ho?" (Why are you beating us?).
According to locals, the altercation began when residents approached the maintenance office to complain about the frequent power cuts in the society.
After the video circulated online, police took cognisance of the matter and arrested four members of the maintenance staff -- Ravindra (33), Sohit (30), Sachin and Vipin, both aged 27.
Further legal action is underway, a police officer said.
