Lucknow: Amid the protest by the I.N.D.I.A. bloc parties against Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of the Electoral Rolls in Bihar on Wednesday, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav questioned the impartiality of the EC and alleged that the BJP had ‘rigged’ the 2022 UP Assembly polls to win the election.

Akhilesh, while addressing party workers here, said that the opposition parties were now ‘alert’ and would not allow rigging of the next UP Assembly polls by the BJP due in 2027.

‘’Everyone has issues with the EC,’’ he added.

‘’We lost the UP polls because of the rigging by BJP... Had we secured 1.5 lakh additional votes we would have won the election,’’ he said, claiming that the names of 18 thousand voters were ‘deleted’ from the voter list in UP before the polls.

Akhilesh also alleged rigging in the Assembly bypoll at the Milkipur seat in Ayodhya saying that an elderly person had ‘voted five times’ there. ‘’The most corrupt official of the education department was deployed at Milkipur,’’ he said.

The SP president also alleged that the cops had ‘cast votes’ in Kundarki and Mirapur assembly seats to help the BJP win there.

Referring to the bridge collapse incident in Gujarat, he said this was Gujarat 'model' of BJP.

The SP leader said that there were ‘internal difference’ within the Yogi Adityanath government and exuded confidence that the saffron party would lose the 2027 Assembly polls in UP.
