Lucknow: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the bravery of the Indian armed forces and said that Pakistani forces begged to stop the fighting during ‘’Operation Sindoor‘’.
Addressing a public meeting after dedicating and inaugurating developmental schemes worth several hundred crores in Kanpur, Modi also asserted that "Operation Sindoor is not over yet".
‘’The enemy must not be under any illusion...Operation Sindoor is not over yet,’’ he said.
The prime minister said that India had made clear that it would respond to every terror attack and that the timing, method and conditions would be decided by the armed forces themselves.
‘’India will not be scared by the threat of a nuclear bomb and our decisions will not be based on such threats...for us the perpetrator and the government which patronises terror are the same,’’ Modi said.
The prime minister said that the world had seen the power of the indigenous weapons during ‘’Operation Sindoor’’. ‘’Home made weapons and Brahmos Missiles wreaked havoc inside the enemy territory,’’ he added.
He said that the Brahmos missiles did not allow the enemy to sleep. ‘’There was a time when India was dependent upon others for its security...we initiated steps to change that,’’ he said.
Modi said that being self sufficient in security needs was not only essential for the economy but also for our self-pride.’’ At a time when traditional industries were leaving Kanpur, big companies in the defence sector are coming here,’’ the prime minister said.
He said that there was a time when Kanpur was an important centre for industries in the country but gradually they left or were closed. ‘’the previous governments made no attempt to stop it,’’ he added.
Earlier Modi inaugurated 15 developmental projects worth Rs 47 thousand crore. He also flagged off the second phase of the Metro Rail project on this occasion.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues were also present on this occasion.
