Lucknow: Allegedly feeling humiliated after being allegedly stripped, beaten and urinated upon at a birthday party, a dalit minor died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district, about 200 kilometres from here.
According to the reports, the minor, a student of 10th standard, was found hanging in his room at his village on Monday. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared by the doctors on arrival.
Reports said that the minor had been invited to a birthday party by some youths on Friday where he, after an alleged altercation, was stripped, thrashed and urinated upon.
The youths also prepared a video of their act and threatened to upload the same on social media. The minor was also allegedly made to lick his spit after he asked them to delete the video.
The family members of the victim lodged a complaint with the police after he narrated the incident to them but the police allegedly did not take any action.
Apparently feeling humiliated, the minor hanged himself with a rope in his room at his village on Monday when the other members of the family were away, the reports said.
Blaming that the police inaction led to the death of the minor, the family members and some others staged a demonstration before the police station with his dead body.
Police said that a case was registered in this regard and three persons were arrested. The fourth accused was absconding and a hunt was launched to nab him, the police added.
