According to a report by Times of India, the crime took place on July 12 2014, when 50-year-old Manoj Kumar got into a verbal altercation with his wife Seema Devi.

Consumed with anger, Kumar took out his rifle and shot his wife in the chest. Upon hearing the commotion, their neighbour Shashibala ran towards their house but was also shot in the head by Kumar.

The children too were present in the room. The six-year-old son Manvendra begged his father for mercy. He clung to his legs and asking him to spare his life but the father also shot him in the head.

This incident occurred in front of their daughter who was studying in class 8. Kumar took his rifle and pointed it towards his daughter and shot her in the face. But, she survived to narrate the tale in court.

The neighbors ran to the scene of the crime and took the gun away from Kumar. He was then handed over to the police.

A complaint was filed by Seema's brother Dilip at Banna Devi in Aligarh.

Dilip said that he was on his way to see his sister and saw a lot of commotion at the place. He soon learnt that Manoj had attacked several people. When he reached the house, Dilip saw Kumar shooting the 13-year-old girl.

He also stated that Kumar had anger issues and often used to beat his wife and children.

Police registered a case against the ex-Army man under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder).
