Lucknow: Allegedly after being enraged over being called ‘fat’, a youth shot at and wounded two people in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district.
The injured were admitted to the hospital where the condition of one of them is stated to be ‘critical’. The alleged culprit, identified as Arjun Chauhan, a resident of Belghat in the district, was arrested.
According to the police sources, the youth who was driving a car, chased the duo for over 20 km who were riding a motorbike, stopped them after overtaking them and opened fire at them.
Sources said that Chauhan was enraged after the duo, identified as Anil Kumar and Shubham Yadav, residents of Majharia, called him ‘fat’ at a function at the famous Tarkulha Temple in the district a few days back.
‘’The called me fat and made fun of me in public...I felt deeply hurt by their remarks... I had decided to teach them a lesson,’’ Anil told the cops.
Anil allegedly followed the duo with his car when they left the venue and after chasing them for around 20 km he intercepted them and opened fire at them. The duo were admitted to the hospital by the locals.
The incident happened a few days back but it came to light on Friday when the cops nabbed Arjun Chauhan from his residence. A case was registered in this regard and Chauhan has been sent to jail, the police said.
