Grief-stricken over cat's death, woman hangs self in UP's Amroha

Lucknow: One may have heard about people giving their properties to their pets but in Uttar Pradesh a woman, allegedly heartbroken over the death of her pet cat, died by suicide in Amroha district.
According to the reports, the deceased, identified as Pooja, a resident of Hasanpur in Amroha, hung herself at her residence on Saturday.
Reports said that Pooja had a cat, which died four days ago.
Pooja, was so attached to the pet that she did not even bury it instead kept it with her.
‘’She said that her cat will come alive soon and therefore I will not bury it,’’ Pooja’s mother said.
Reports said that 32-year old Pooja was found hanging in her room on the night of Saturday. The body of the dead cat also lay near her. She had been living with the dead cat for the past three days.
Pooja, had separated from husband around six years ago and lived with her parents.
Police said that prima facie it appeared to be a case of suicide. The body was sent for post-mortem examination and further investigations were on, they said.
