Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday slammed the opposition leaders for trying to spread ‘disinformation’ about the Maha Kumbh, and said that the record number of devotees, who visited the event, proved that ‘’sanatan’s flag’ would always fly high.
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 concluded in Prayagraj on Wednesday with the last Amrit Snan on Mahashivratri
‘’The opposition was using fake videos to create confusion but the devotees answered them by coming to the Kumbh in massive numbers....they made it clear that they would not be influenced by the disinformation campaign of the opposition,’’ Adityanath said while speaking at a function at Prayagraj.
‘’Sanatan ka jhanda kabhi neeche nahin jhukega’’ (Sanatan’s flag will never bow down), he said.
Adityanath said that there never was such an event anywhere in the world. ‘’66.30 crore devotees took part in the event....there was no report of kidnapping, theft or loot...the opposition kept trying to find out shortcomings using binoculars but couldn’t find any,’’ he added.
‘’There were eight crore devotees in the Mela area on Maun Amavasya but the opposition continued to spread disinformation and use indecent language,’’ the chief minister said.
Incidentally, a stampede had occurred at Sangam during the bathing on the occasion of Maun Amavasya in which 30 devotees were killed and many others injured.
Earlier Adityanath took part in a cleanliness drive with his two deputies, Brajesh Patahk and Keshav Prasad Maurya, and performed worship on the bank of the Ganga. He later had lunch with the sweepers.
The chief minister announced a special bonus of Rs10,000 for each of the sweepers and also said that the state government had decided to increase their salary.
