Lucknow: A man was allegedly beaten to death following an altercation over a seat on the Delhi-Saharanpur section of the Northern Railway near Khekra railway station in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district.
According to the police sources, the deceased, identified as Deepak Yadav, a resident of Khekra, was thrashed by some people after an altercation over a seat.
Deepak was travelling to Khekra in Delhi-Saharanpur passenger train, when the incident happened on Friday night.
Deepak, who worked in Delhi, was on his way back home when the incident happened, sources said.
Sources said that Deepak had a heated argument with some people, who were also travelling in the same train over a seat. A group of passengers thrashed Deepak, who sustained serious injuries.
Deepak was rushed to the hospital when the train came to a halt at Khekra Railway station but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, sources said. The alleged perpetrators managed to escape after the train slowed down while approaching Khekra.
Police said that they were investigating the incident and have also quizzed some passengers.
Sources said that some miscreants, who were in an inebriated state, had thrashed some passengers in the same train a few days back following an altercation over seats.
