According to the police sources here, the minor was bleeding profusely when she approached the RPF staff at the railway station after the incident, and was rushed to the hospital.

Sources said that the victim, a resident of UP’s Etah district, was returning home with her parents after visiting the famous Purnagiri Temple in the neighbouring hill state of Uttarakhand, when the alleged incident happened.

Sources said that the father of the minor, who had got down at the station to buy something, rushed to board the train as it had started but slipped and fell on the platform. The victim panicked when her father did not return to the coach and jumped out of the coach, but by that time the train, though moving at a slow speed, had reached the outer signal.

The victim, who sustained minor injuries, was on her way to the platform when an unidentified man grabbed her from behind and took her to a secluded spot where he allegedly raped her before escaping.

Senior police officials reached the spot on getting the information and a search was launched to nab the culprit. ‘’Prima facie it appears that the minor was raped,’’ said a police official in Bareilly. The police were also checking the CCTV footage to trace the culprit.
