Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP over the latter’s alleged poster on social media after Tuesday terror attack at Pahalgam in which at least 26 tourists were killed stating that the terrorists asked about the religion of the victims not caste.
‘’Dharm poocha, jati nahi....yaad rakhenge’’ (they asked about religion not caste...will remember), the poster, reportedly by the Chhattisgarh unit of the BJP said.
‘’BJP has proved that it is an insensitive party.....even its die hard supporters will not forgive the BJP for this sin....BJP always looks for opportunities to gain political mileage in a crisis,’’ Akhilesh said in a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
He said that the Pahalgam terror attack was the ‘failure’ of the Centre. ‘’BJP did whatever it wanted in Jammu and Kashmir and hence it can escape from its responsibility...it is a failure of the Centre....this attack could have been prevented if the Centre had been alert,’’ the SP leader added.
Akhilesh sought to know from the government as to why proper security arrangements were not made. ‘’The BJP and its alliance partners have been encouraging the people to visit Kashmir....why didn’t they make proper security arrangements for the tourists?....It’s also a political failure,’’ he said.
