Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly took loan from bank to give ‘supari’ for the rape and murder of his sister-in-law in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district.
According to police sources, the man, identified as Ashish Kumar, took a bank loan of Rs 40,000 to hire two youths, who allegedly gang-raped the victim and then helped him burn the body with petrol to hide her identity.
Muzaffarnagar superintendent of police (Rural) Aditya Bansal said that the victim, a resident of Budhana area, had gone missing on December 21 last year and a missing person complaint was lodged with the police.
During the investigation, it came to light that the victim was last seen leaving with Ashish and his two friends. During interrogation Ashish confessed to the crime. The skeleton of the victim was recovered in the fields near a canal in Sardhana area on Saturday.
Ashish, who worked as a ward boy at a private hospital, told the cops that he was fed up with the demands of his sister-in-law with whom he had an illicit affair. He then contacted two youths and sought their help in killing her.
The two demanded money to perpetrate the crime, the police said, adding that Ashish then borrowed Rs 40 thousand from a bank as a personal loan and paid them Rs 30 thousand.
As per the plan the three took the victim to a secluded place where she was gang-raped by Ashish’s friends and later strangled to death. The accused tried to burn the body with petrol to hide her identity. The police are still looking for the two other accused persons.
