Deoria (UP): Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria on Monday said misinformation about anti-national slogans being raised during a muharram procession in the district has come to the fore and they are identifying the culprits.

In a statement issued on Monday, the police said that on the night of July 6-7, misinformation circulated on social media that slogans “Pakistan Zindabad” were raised during a muharram procession in the district.

Terming the allegations completely “false and baseless”, the police said that a video of the procession was circulated on social media in a misleading way.

They said that efforts are on to identify those who spread the misleading news and necessary legal action will be taken against them.
