Lucknow: Lucknow based Dr Shaheen Shahid, who was arrested from Faridabad on Monday over suspicion of being a member of the ‘white terror module’, had been in touch with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad and was entrusted with the task of forming the women’s wing of the JeM in India.
According to the sources, Shaheen was in close contact with JeM’s chief Masood Azhar’s sister Saheeda Azhar and on her direction, she was planning to establish the women’s wing of the terror outfit in the country.
Reports said that Shaheen worked at Al Falah University in Faridabad. The Jammu & Kashmir police had arrested her after being tipped-off by Muzammil Ahmed, who was arrested earlier.
Police had recovered an AK-4 rifle from the car of Shaheen.
Sources said that Shaheen’s family lived at Lalbagh area in Lucknow. The cops raided her residence on Tuesday.
The cops also raided the residence of Dr Parvez Ansari, who is said to be Shaheen’s younger brother. Parvez was not found at his residence. The sleuths seized some documents and electronic gadgets from the residence.
Shaheen’s father Syed Ansari, who was present in the house when the cops conducted the raid, denied that his children were involved in terrorist activities. Shaheen was his second child and her elder brother Shoeb lived with his father.
He said that he had spoken to Shaheen around a month back.
Unconfirmed reports said that Dr Shaheen also earlier worked with Kanpur Medical College but left the job in 2013. She was reportedly married to one Zafar Hayat but the couple divorced in 2015.
