Ballia: The main accused in the youth assault case in Rasra police station area here surrendered before a local court which sent him to judicial custody, police said on Friday.
SHO of Rasra police station Vipin Singh on Friday said the case came to light after a viral video showed a youth being brutally beaten up on March 13.
The video showed some youths forcibly catching a youth at a deserted place, taking off his clothes and beating the youth with a tree branch while abusing him. The people present on the spot record this brutality in their mobile cameras, but no one tried to save him, the SHO said.
Singh said after the video came to light a case was registered against Prince Singh alias Manvendra Singh, Samrat Singh, Dhannu Singh and Raj Nishad on the complaint of Abhishek Rajbhar of Kathura village.
In his complaint, Rajbhar alleged that the accused forcibly took him in their car on March 13 to an unknown place and beat him up badly.
Singh alias Manvendra Singh surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ballia on Thursday.
Efforts are being made to arrest the three other accused.
