Lucknow: While it may be hard to resist the smell emanating from the crispy and flaky samosas being deep fried in oil, it is also tough to believe that these delicious fried snacks can trigger a brawl between a husband and wife.

An altercation between a man and his wife over the former’s failure to bring samosas for her turned violent after the latter called her in-laws and brothers and got her husband thrashed in full public view in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district.

According to the police sources, a case was lodged against the wife, her in-laws and her brothers in this regard.

According to the reports, Shivam, a resident of Bhagwantapur in the district had got married to one Sangeeta, a resident of the same district, in May this year.

Sangeeta had asked her husband Shivam to bring samosas from the market a couple of days back.

Shivam, however, forgot to buy the ‘samosas’ but assured his wife that he would definitely bring them the next day. The duo had a heated exchange over the matter and Sangeeta called her in-laws and brothers there and they then allegedly thrashed Shivam and his father Vijay.

A panchayat (meeting of the village elders) was later called to settle the matter but there also Shivam and Sangeeta had an altercation and Shivam was again allegedly thrashed by Sangeeta’s brothers and in-laws. Shivam and his father, who sustained injuries, were admitted to the hospital.

Shivam's father later lodged a complaint with the police after which a case was lodged against four people. Police said that they were investigating the matter.
