An X post about the incident states that “The woman slipped in the strong current of the river and was swept away and lost her life.” The post further adds that her body still hasn't been recovered by the police.

The video showed a woman stepping into the river despite the strong current and losing her balance before being swept away by the current. A child’s voice can be heard in the background screaming “mummy, mummy”.

Netizens are saddened by the news as can be seen by one user’s reply to the post saying, “Hearing the cry of “Mummy” – just broke my heart. Like first aid training, fire training etc, separate training should be done for all people seeing this trend of making reels in dangerous positions.” Another user said “Pls don’t share this video. It’s heartbreaking”

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated incident as several individuals die every year trying to film content for social media. For instance, on July 16, 2024, Aanvi Kamdar, a travel influencer from Mumbai, died after falling into a gorge while filming an Instagram reel at the Kumbhe waterfall near Raigad, Maharashtra.
