Vadra row: IT dept seizes Bhandari's passport

The Income Tax Department has impounded the passport of arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari in connection with a tax evasion case against him.

Bhandari was in the limelight recently following reports that the Finance Ministry was reviewing an investigative report that claims that he bought a “benami” or proxy-owned mansion in London for Robert Vadra in 2009.

The action came against the backdrop of investigators fearing that Bhandari may leave the country, official sources said. Bhandari could not be contacted for his comments.
The I-T Department has summoned Bhandari for questioning after investigators found more leads in the case. The department has also shared seizure memo record with the Ministry of Defence.
