Vedas are the identity of rich, ancient Indian culture and heritage and taught the entire world the values of leading a righteous way of life, said President Pranab Mukherjee.
Mukherjee inaugurated the TTD’s Veda Pathashala in Ai bheemavaram in West Godavari district on Friday. In his address, he stressed the need to safeguard Vedas for the sake of future generation and complimented the temple administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for its initiatives in protecting and promoting Vedas.
Quoting some of the famous Vedic verses, he said the chief motto of Vedas which were taught by our great gurus is for the benefit of the entire humanity and enhancing the spirit of brotherhood. “Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu...Vasudhaika Kutumbakam”, he asserted.
He added: “Even the UNESCO recognized the importance of our Vedic knowledge. It is our bounded duty and responsibility to preserve the prestige glory of Vedas which are the integral part of our tradition, insight of our knowledge.”
He said thousands of years ago, universities like Taxila, Nagarjuna, Amaravathi had attracted even the foreign students to study Vedic courses like Nyaya Sastra, Mimamsa etc.
