In the post on X, Mallya has demanded an account of the statement made by the Minister. He said, according to the Minister's reply, total recoveries from him add up to Rs 15,094.93 crore.

Mallya questioned why there is no explanation on about Rs 1,000 crore, which, he said, is in addition to the figure stated by the Finance Minister in Parliament in December 2024.

"As per the statement tabled in Parliament by the MoS Finance, total recoveries from me add up to Rs 15094.93 crores which is almost Rs 1,000 crores more than the figure stated by the Finance Minister in Parliament in December 2024. Why no explanation or statement of account?" the post read.

His post comes as a response to Chaudhary's declaration of a list Fugitive Economic Offenders (FEOs) who collectively owe over Rs 58,000 crore to banks, as informed to Parliament.

Among as many as 15 individuals, Mallya and Nirav Modi had been declared as FEOs by the Special Court, FEOA, under the provisions of the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018.

Together, these offenders owe Rs 26,645 crore as principal loan amount to the banks, while the interest component is Rs 31,437 crore. Taken together, these fugitive economic offenders owe Rs 58,082 crore to the 12 state-owned banks, including PNB, Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, UCO Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank and Indian Bank.
