Lucknow: Former India captain Virat Kohli and his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma on Sunday visited Ayodhya and paid obeisance at the Ram Temple.
The couple offered prayers and performed puja at the Ram Temple in the presence of the priests.
They also visited the famous Hanumangarhi temple later and performed aarti there.
The devotees who were present at Ram Temple chanted 'Jai Shree ram' on seeing Virat and Anushka.
Their visit to Ayodhya came after Anushka accompanied Virat for the match between RCB and SRH at Lucknow on May 23.
After announcing retirement from test cricket Virat has been visiting religious places.
Barely a few days back Virat and Anushka had visited Vrindavan and met Sant Premanand there. During their Ayodhya visit the couple maintained distance from media.
Videos and pictures of their visit have surfaced on social media.
According to the reports, Virat and Anushka also had a meeting with the Mahant (religious head) of Hanumangarhi temple Gyan Das.
A temple official later said that the couple were curious to know about the history of the temple and its fame.
''Both Virat Kohli and his wife Are religious minded and they were keen to know about religious significance of the Hanumangarhi temple and its divinity '' the official said.
